Fanny Chung specializes in music and performing arts. Her substantive research interests are interdisciplinary, encompassing performing arts management, and music and arts education. Chung is also a specialist in early childhood music, and has pioneered a wide range of projects, teacher education programmes and research in early childhood music and arts that integrates pedagogy and research through both theory and practice. Chung has published numerous books and curriculum resources. Her books in Music and Creative Arts (Oxford University Press, 2011, 2012, 2013) have been widely acclaimed and adopted by schools as textbooks and references. Chung obtained her doctoral degree from the University of Bristol, specializing in Creative Programmes in Music and Arts Education. She also studied Music at the Hong Kong Baptist University, University of Manitoba and Royal Conservatory of Music, Canada. Chung’s other credentials include Licentiate Performer (Distinction) in Piano Performance (Trinity College London), Performance Certificate (Trinity College London), Orff Certificate of Accreditation, Dalcroze Certificate, Kindermusik Educator International License. Chung has taught at the Hong Kong Baptist University. Her research and teaching areas have included Performing Arts Management, Early Childhood Education, Curatorship of Arts Festival, Orff Schulwerk, Kodaly Approach, Dalcroze Approach, Musical Analysis, Musical Performance and Pedagogy, Fieldwork Supervision, Internship, Research Supervision, and Cultural Policy. Chung was frequently invited to present seminars and professional training workshops in Music for teachers and principals. Chung has given lectures, presentations and workshops in institutions including Central Conservatory of Music, Renmin University of China, National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts and other world-renowned international conferences and events. Chung is currently Assistant Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
